Positivity Is Key

Hormones. They can be messy and exhausting. One small thing said can send you into a whirlwind of tears you didn't know you had. I've had a handful of these moments in the last six months, but there was a book that I happened to borrow called "Letter to my Daughter" by Maya Angelou

&

it opened up my heart and mind in such positive ways. I couldn't thank her enough for writing it. At the time it felt like it was addressed to me personally. It simply hit home.

One chapter in particular she is talking about how she became a young mother, and simply felt proud of herself after she brought him into this world. She had done something that gave her self gratification with the love and support of those around her.

I was so inspired by this, because you hear so many things that are negative in regards to those starting a family. "kids hold you back, take all your money etc..." It's heartbreaking for me to hear these things, because it is far from true. We are women who are strong, driven and loving. Those are great qualities to choose which paths to take in life with your child by your side, not holding you back. I will still do great things even as I bring a new life into this world in hopes that it encourages my daughter to do the same.

Maya doesn't have any daughters of her own, but she takes all of us in as though we are hers in this book. If you get the chance to read it, I highly recommend it.

Her Name

So many loving people around us, who have been sharing in the joy of our new addition have asked us weekly if we have decided on a name for our little girl. The answer is always "no, nothing set in stone yet." We've brainstormed names like crazy though

-Mya
-Serenity
-Emma
-Sage
-Mia

and we're sold on both Mya and Emma. So the day she is born, we will take a good look at her and see what fits her most. She is in fact stuck with the name for 18+ years ;)

We're having a..!

Baby girl! It was official as of March 5th that our growing family was going to be welcoming a little girl in July! My better half hadn't ever seen the magic of a live ultra sound, he had just been relying on pictures so far. So when the day came and he was able to see our little creation swimming around my tummy, going back and forth and almost doing cartwheels, he was mesmerized. His eyes couldn't help but light up as he held my hand through the rest of the Dr.s visit. Talk about making a woman's heart melt.
